Stark & Whyte, inc – The Art of Cooking Company History Stark & Whyte is a new lifestyle retail concept that offers a wide assortment of quality Home Cooking, Dining and Entertaining products at value prices. The company is a Quebec-based corporation. Founded by Philip Stark, the company was formed with two goals in mind: to offer the best quality kitchenware products at great prices in a destination store, to educate customers about cooking and to enhance the enjoyment of cooking. The product offering encompasses “cooking, serving, eating and living” and represents any products that originate in the kitchen and that have an end-use in the family or dining room. Our concept is more than just a “big box” store selling kitchenwares products; customers can share in the experience of learning the art of cooking and baking by attending cooking and cake decorating classes or simply, improving their cooking skills. With kitchens increasingly serving as the “heart of the home”, home cooks are sprucing up their kitchens with the right gadgets and tools. Home cooking, cooking shows and home entertaining are on the increase and the kitchen is often the most “lived in” room in the house. “It’s a clean, crisp concept, with a very clear obsession – to satisfy our customers with quality kitchenwares, give them value for their money and to help them improve their cooking skills” says the company’s Founder “and for those reasons, the company is called Stark & Whyte – stark-white or just another way of saying that we’re crystal clear about our objectives”. Customers can visit the tasting bar as well as getting educated about kitchenware electric appliances, cooks’ tools, cookware and bakeware. A Recipe Community Table allows customers to spend as much time as they want browsing through the latest recipe books from the greatest chefs. In addition, the store offers a wide assortment of entertaining and tabletop products from Fondue to Flatware to Dinner Sets and Glassware. The mix of products is complemented by Linens, Homekeeping items and Storage and a vast array of Kitchen Essentials finish off the offering. Stark & Whyte goes even a step further by offering a kitchenwares-themed gift-giving service which includes gifts for the hostess, corporate gifts, special occasion gifts, party and holiday gifts. Customers may purchase pre-made gift hampers or simply give helpful sales staff their personal budget and have a hamper made up for them. A wide network of suppliers is used to keep products in stock at all times and great care is taken to give customers the best quality for their money. The company works diligently with suppliers to pass savings onto its customers. The
store design, set in 9,000 sq. ft of retail space, reflects
a mix of styles with traditional materials, such as wood and metal used
in a contemporary manner. The store layout, which is set up in cooking
lifestyle categories, allows customers to easily browse through the wonderful
product selection and enjoy a complete shopping experience. The store
was designed by Robert Ruscio of Ruscio Studio, Montreal and built by
Dama Construction of Montreal. |
